The traditional french-canadian repertoire was built «by ear» by
generations of musicians exposed to various musical influences. It
includes tunes from Ireland, Scotland (like the reel de
Pointe-au-Pic), England (like the Reel de Sherbrooke),
Britany, United-States, old France, even classical melodies (like Joseph Allard's Reel de Beaupré
taken from a ballet by Tchaïkovski) or Parisian café-concert tunes (like the Reel
du Boulanger). |
